- RayChezExplorerI would think both of those coaches are entry level and both are about the same. You are the only one that can decide which fits your needs better. Your wife I am sure likes one floor plan better then the other. I never have liked Forest River motorhomes. And the only Fleetwood I like is the Eagle. The Eagle is superior to any Monaco or Newmar.
- Korea79ExplorerI purchased a new Fleetwood 2008 37C and experienced tons of problems with it. Although the wife and I loved the floor plan, continuous trips to the repair shop forced us to upgrade. We purchased a new 2012 Forest River Georgetown 378TS XL. It is my opinion that the Fleetwood 37C is not in the same ball park as it pertains to problem free travel. Both are great floor plans. Good luck with your purchase.
- ArchHoaglandExplorerFloor plan that the wife likes.
- JimM68ExplorerI agree with the majority.
Anything by forest river is entry level compared to fleetwood.
The fleetwood is not a newmar or monaco by any stretch, but it is better than any thor or forest river. - FCExplorerWe have had our Georgetown since new and have been very satisfied. I would want to compare the two chassis as part of the examination. By the way the Georgtown XL is not the entry level as that is just the Georgetown model. Check out the finishes and the list of standard items. You can tell from the outside by just looking at the storage compartment doors.
The Georgetown XL is Forest River's top of the line gas unit.
JM2CW - michelbExplorerBetween the two, if all else was equal, I'd take the Southwind over the Georgetown.
While Forest River do put a lot of value in their products, the Georgetown is lower end (basically bottom end of the market) than the Southwind (new MSRP $125k vs $140k) while the Southwind I believe I about 'mid-range' price and I think the Southwind is pretty high on Fleetwood's gasser lineup. Factor in that the Southwind is 1 year newer, on paper it's certainly worth more. NADA low retail value (which you have to take with a grain of salt) is $54k for the Georgetown and $64k for the Southwind. - oscar111ExplorerWe just traded in an 08 Hurricane 34B on the Ford Chassis for an 08 Fleetwood Bounder 38P with a Workhorse . So far I'm very happy with the quality of the Bounder compared to the Hurricane . The Workhorse seems to handle much better in the wind and also when being passed by larger trucks . The slides also operate much smoother as compared to the jerky operation of the ones on the Hurricane . Good luck with your choice .
- frankdampExplorerAs a Georgetown owner (bought used from the original owner), I'd recommend the Southwind. It's a year younger (ref the 10-year rule at some CGs). When new, GTs were priced right for the marketplace, but the quality left something to be desired.
Our is "OK - but". The floor plan suits us quite well, two people and two Labradors, but the quality of construction isn't the greatest. I had to replace the cabinets over the dinette after a failed slide topper let the rain in. I was not impressed by the way it had been built.
The cabinetry looks good, solid oak doors, good quality hardware, but the stuff behind the doors is cheap hemlock with oak wood-tape stuck on. Electrical wiring looked like the shop floor techs had made it up as they went along with whatever color wire was handy.
Definitely would not recommend Georgetown, but I have no knowledge of the quality of your other option. - Sully2ExplorerId buy the Southwind. I had 2...both were OK
- Bird_FreakExplorer III bought a new 04 Pace Arrow 37C one step above the Southwind. We had lots of problems with the coach and after a couple of years the wood finish on the inside looked like it was done by amateurs. All the spots from putty covering nail and staple holes and the closet doors in the bed room came apart and several plumbing leaks just to name a few. Got to the point at7 years old we had a problem every trip.
