Height of a class C

I had measured our C and posted on the dash it's height.
One morning we came to a very large border crossing into Canada, with several lanes for cars and a few for trucks. Only one lane for cars was open and none for trucks. While waiting for a couple of cars ahead of us we saw a maximum hight sign, we were just a tiny bit too tall. So when it came our turn to move up for inspection, we just sat there and I slouched down and patted the top of my head, I knew better than to get out of the cab without being told to.
The guard came out of his booth and walked up to us and said, I think you can make it. I told him we would try if he wanted but I had it posted here that we were too tall. H said I'll meet you over there at that truck lane.

When we went MH shopping, we had a house eave we needed to clear. I made an L shape tool out of a 15' adjustable golf ball retriever. Remember that air bags and load will change height.

You could also park next to a stairway, hold a 1x2x8' , resting level on the highest point and measure to the ground.

My 'C' is lower than 12 feet, because it fits in my garage with 12' x 12' doors. (Checked by a friend on a ladder for my first entry). But going thru Canada, I was cruising along with the speedometer marked in both MPH and KPH until I came to a bridge with the height marked 5 meters. No traffic, so I pulled over and did the conversion. 12 feet is 3.66 meters. That's marked on my dashboard now.
The conversion table is 'www.onlineconversion.com'. A handy tool for home as well as on the road. It will convert just about anything to anything.

You haaven't been to the Geneseo Campground. From US6 or I80 there is a 10' underpass on their road. Fortunately it is well marked

OMG. I hope you don't go by what each post says what THEIR coach measures!!!

Every Class C is different.
There is no standard number of the height of a Class C. The height varies from model to model and manufacturer and chassis.

Find a wall of a brick, block, or wood sided building and park your RV along side it. Count how many bricks/blocks or rows of siding it is to the top of your AC. Measure the width of the blocks/bricks and/or siding and multiply. This will give you a good idea of how tall it is.

By the way......mine is 12'! So do your homework first before you start going under bridges based on other peoples RV heights!! :W

Most of you have seen this, I'm sure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsAlzV4qSD8, but it never hurts to have a reminder of how important knowing your height is. I think it's on the edge of downtown Durham, NC.

In Las Vegas we had to pick up our friends at the Car Rental facility. They don't allow RV's in either departure or arrival. There is a free shuttle to the rental facility though and it was not too difficult to meet them there. We are also 11'4" in the manual, but the lowest bridge I've encountered was about 13'.

I found some specs that say 11ft, 3in but it doesnt' say if that includes things on the roof.

Not only do you need to be careful on highways, but in some unexpected places as well. For example, DO NOT ever try to pick up anybody at the arrival area of Denver International Airport. You will lose your roof! We planned to pick up our daughters in Denver on the way home on a cross country trip. We arranged to stay at the Denver East KOA and had the good fortune to call ahead and ask the CG host if we would encounter any problems picking up at the airport. She told us that we needed to pick up our daughters at the Departure Area, not the Arrival Area for the reason noted above. She said more than a few RVs lost their roofs going to the arrival area. Since then, whenever we need to pick up anyone at an airport, we contact folks in the airport area ahead of time to make sure we will be OK.
