Help!! Dry Rot On Tire Sidewalls

Use 303 Protectant on your new tires.

Goodyear has RV tires with UV protection - buy some new tires, the old ones are done.

Getting tire covers is good but only part of the solution to the problem. The major player in tire dry rot is the moisture coming up around the tires from the ground. Parking on Dirt, gravel, wood,
concrete, etc, will not help end the problem.
Parking on metal, galvanized tin roof flashing is good. Aluminum roof flashing is good. Large pieces of plastic such as place mats, plastic cutting boards, etc, are good. In short, anything that stops moisture from going up around the tires. Dirt, gravel, wood, concrete all hold moisture that with weather & temperature swings is released to do its dirty work.

As others have already stated, it's time for new tires. RV tires don't usually fail because of lack of tread because they age out rather than wear out due mileage. They fail due to sidewall blow out.

If you think the price of TIRES is expensive....how much will the body repair cost if one blows...:h. Another factor is loss of life if you crash. To quote Clint..."Do you feel lucky"...:h.

After buying NEW tires, which I recommend, get yourself some Aerospace303 and use it regularly but sparingly...it's expensive. I put mine in a spray bottle and liberally spray all my tires/hoses/anything rubber about once every two/three weeks. It's good that you use your coach regularly. Rubber performs better when exercised every day.....BOL.....Dennis

X whatever for replacing, and covering the new ones. It was a good point to try to negotiate the price, but kind of sounds like that wasn't addressed. Consider it the cost of peace of mind!

The tires on our 1998 Monaco appeared to be in great shape, no dry rot, but the sidewall code indicated they were 11 years old! Yes, they're expensive - $2700 for six in our case. Plus the cost of tire covers, which we haven't gotten yet but will soon. Buying a new MH is not for the faint of heart.
