Help, no power to slideouts.

My slides have a power lockout. After a wash job at a truck wash I couldn't close 'em. After a panicky brain #*%* moment, we found the right combo of flipping the switches to get them closed.
It was there in the owners manual in geek speek.

It sounds like your slide solenoid may not be working correctly. Not sure about your model, but on ours it is located in the rear-most compartment on the passenger side and is well labeled. The two large wires on it pass power to the electric slides. You can short those two wires in an emergency and I have also just whacked mine with the handle of a large screwdriver once the ignition is on while waiting on a new solenoid, but a replacement is in order.

If you don't know about it, the Tiffin RV Network web site has a great forum (link on the left side of that page) which is a wonderful resource for Tiffin owners. It has no relationship with Tiffin Motorhomes but is ran by other Tiffin owners and has great members sharing info making everyone's life simpler.

Mine have problems/hesitation if the batteries are not up to a full charge. Do you hear the solenoid clicking when you try to move the slides or is everything silent?

Maybe an interlock problem such as the sensor for the parking brakes is not activated. If the slides are hydraulic can you cycle the jacks? Check the owner's manual for what has to be set before the system will allow operation or give Tiffin a call.

Set the parking brake. Make sure its in park. Some have to have key in accesory pos. Try again.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. The air brake is on and the trans is in neutral as they should be.

I have the key in the accessory position, which is the correct procedure according to the manual. There was no mention of a lockout mechanism except that I know the slides will not operate with the ignition in the on position.

The suggestion about a power controller for all three slides makes sense to me. I will start looking around for that. Not sure about solenoids. The ones that I have found near the inverter appear to be for connecting coach and chassis batteries, but there are more than a couple of them, so I'll look for one labeled slides as this motorhome seems to have labels on 90% of the wires and fuse panels.

are the slides electric or hydraulic?they operate differently
I assume as all three slides don't operate I stand by my suggestion is a 12V supply problem.There will be a slide solenoid for sure,circut breakers to each slide and fuse to each slide
some HWH etc Hydralic slides have a controller but and I repeat as all your slides quit LOOK FOR A COMMON denominater




The slides are electric. In the bay where the inverter is, there is a couple of solenoids and a"coil" that has a wire going to a circuit breaker labeled slides. The coil is only hot on one side. I hooked up a jumper wire to both poles of the coil and now have power to the circuit breakers that power each slideout. I am now assuming that this "coil is bad and is the culprit. It says 12v dc cont. on it, so I am assuming both poles should have power to them continuously. Is that correct?

find what powers that coil. Bet it is a small relay black 1x1x1 with 4 to 5 terminals.

That picture is of the solenoid I was referring to. There should be two that are identical. One for the slides, the other for connecting the house and chassis batteries together when underway so the alternator can charge both. There should be two small posts in addition to the two large posts. These posts on the slide solenoid should have 12v across them when the ignition is turned on. That would energize the solenoid and connect the two large posts to allow power to the slides.
