Help with 1998 Harney Renegade DP

UPS dropped off the Koni's Friday 6:00. Changed out the Bilsteins, and loaded up and hooked up the trailer. Saturday was a much better ride. Not like a luxury car, but way better than what it was. Good improvement!

I have not found any Harney groups unfortunately.
I have had a couple experts tell me that the same chassis under different coaches may have different ride heights. This makes no sense to me. I have seen rear numbers as high as 12" for Safari's.
I really think the only safe way to go is to verify that the driveshaft angle is less than 3 degrees, which I read is what Dana recommends for their heavy duty drive shafts. (I built those while working my way through college.)
And to verify, even checking that the shock is near the middle of its travel like you recommend as a backup. Particularly for the front, as front ride height should affect driveshaft angle very little.
I suppose that is where I am on this. Wish there was more info availble, but we can figure it out.

Have you searched for a Harney owners group? Most motorhome groups have at least one tech-savvy member.

Also, at least for Safari models (it is my understanding that both Harney and Safari were built the Magnum chassis through those model years) there were complete model numbers-- S24E250 Blue Streak for example for the 1998 Safari Sahara. You may find the exact same chassis under a Safari and be able to get information on your chassis there.

In the absence of any better information on ride height, I would set it such that the shocks are 1/2 way from compressed to extended length. That should put you in the ball park. Said another way, if the shocks only have 2" of travel between inflated ride height and totally compressed but 4" on extension, I would raise ride height.

Any thoughts? Help?

I would love to! I called Monaco, and that is what they gave me. I have exhausted the options that I am aware of. My title for the thread is incorrect though. The chassis is a 98 but the motorhome is a 99.
I mis spoke about the rear being 11-1/4. The spec is 11". I corrected above. But I completely agree that this is a pretty big difference from where I was.

By the way, factory said 8-3/8" front and 11" rear, which is what I adjusted to. I don't know that I completely trust the numbers given to me though. I would prefer to check driveshaft angles. Anyone know what is acceptable? Are the sides of the ujoint bearing surfaces a reliable check point?

Made the first trip to the track since adjustment. The small Illinois town I go through was still rougher than rough. Can't make any more tire pressure adjustments. Ordered the Koni shocks and will try them.

I have seen previous threads about getting the weight up in the front....which I can believe would make a difference. But.....what in the world to move up there? I would love to have more propane storage, but that isn't safe nor practical in front of the wheels nor even in the front of the basement. Additional water could be useful.

I raised the ride height to factory specs. Also lowered the tires to at least 5 psi over the maximum weight for my coach. Much better. I can always get the Koni's. We will see how our first trip after the adjustments is and go from there.

I corrected ride height and reduced air pressure. Test drive tonight I hope!
