Hi all Newbie here. ? about the new 2016 vs. 2015

Hi y'all. I'm M from Louisiana. We are just getting into it all. Know we want a C class. My ? is when the new 2016's come out & I know that's going to be soon... what does that do to the price of all the 2015 model's out there. We are in the process of researching to buy. I can't find the answer to this ? when I google.
Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

    Welcome to the forums.

Unless you are an experienced RV'er it may make more sense to buy a class C that is three to five years old. Quality control is (almost) absent, so there are often issues with brand new units.

A side bonus is that a lightly used RV may be a lot less money.

The one issue to run away from is any water leak of any kind.
  • Buy used figure out likes and dislikes on someone else's dime.
  • 2015 models will be good buys, the 2016 for Winnebago come out about October
  • Welcome. Another vote for buying lightly used which can save you as much as half of the cost of new unit. Very few folks buy the right RV the first time. Renting something close to what you "think" you want is another very good way to go. Often what first appears to be the perfect coach will have unforeseen issues as you and your family begin to use it.

If you end up with less than the ideal unit it is much better to have paid far less as you sell/trade up to one that works better for you. In some states there is no sales tax on private party sales and your registration and insurance costs will be significantly lower on a used coach. As noted, "Run Forrest run!" from a coach that has ANY evidence of water leaks.

I found ours 18 months old with just 6,205 miles on it in perfect condition for $15,000 less than new {and yes, I was very lucky}. The new models typically start showing up on the dealer lots around late September/early October. If you just "have" to have a new coach the previous years models (2015), can often be had fat a pretty deep discount once the new 2016's start rolling in.

As always.... Opinions and YMMV {your mileage may vary}.

    Good luck!

There is no set answer to your question. The 2015s won't necessarily go down in price, although the 2016s will most likely be higher priced. Each dealer will decide what works for them.
I bought a 2014 MH in March of 2013. About 2 months ago, I saw the same year and model, where the dealer was asking $5,000 more for their left over unit, than what I had paid for mine. The 2015 had already been out for a while.
  • You won't see much other than an incremented number, for the most part. The bigger changes will be RV makers starting to toss Suburban and Atwood water heaters in their smaller rigs for Truma water heater/furnace appliances (this saves space and is cheaper than two appliances.)

Chassis-wise, you will get a 2014 or 2015 auto chassis. Both Ford and Mercedes have had relatively incremental upgrades, unless one goes with a 4x4 Sprinter chassis.
