Higher cost of diesel fuel due to maritime usage?

Will the cost of diesel fuel be affected by new pollution rules for ocean shipping:

    Not very likely :R

I'm sure that will happen to a lot of old clunkers, but other companies like Crowley are moving past bunker and diesel fuel converting their ships to LNG.

  • It is what it is. Glad I run off road diesel in the farm equipment. I agree ocean going ships are BIG polluters.
  • I don't see how the cost of ultra low sulphur diesel will not go up after Jan 1st. There is only a limited amount of processing capacity to manufacture ULSD and with maritime shipping mandating either scrubbers to be installed on ocean going ships (few of which actually have been retrofitted) of ULSD to be used a ship fuel there likely will be an increase in demand, reduced supply and therefore the price of diesel fuels for all vehicles will increase. The million dollar question is by how much? I have read increases ranging from 5% to 35%. So who knows, only time will tell.

Abolutely YES! or not. Luckily we have a serious oil surplus and unless someone shut off the flow we will have plenty of oil for years to come. Our great-grandkids are likely in big trouble unless we find a superior energy source but between now and my death bed, we are in pretty good shape.
