Hitch for towing and carrying?
I've been looking for a hitch adapter that will allow me to both carry a moped and pull my boat but haven't been able to find anything. Has anyone seen such an item?

Most of the hitch adapters for that reason are designed to handle the weight of a bicycle rack and still be able to tow. They typically have a 2.5" square tube that slips over the hitch shank, and then holds the bike mount a few inches higher than the receiver.
Also there is concern about the weight on the hitch. Most are only rated at 500 pounds 'deadweight' and also that weight must be within a reasonable distance from the hitch pin, not sticking out 24" away from the vehicle. So the moped might be to heavy for the hitch, it all depends on it's curb weight with the rack.
Most boats are only in the 200 - 400 pound weight range on the hitch, hopefully that does not add to your capacity problems.
With my motorhome, I removed the factory hitch, and installed a pair of 2" receivers outboard, on both the right and left sides, near the mounting point to the motorhome frame. This way I could have a bicycle rack on both sides, in addition to towing my car behind the RV. It worked out very well. Each rack was only about 50 pounds with the bike on it. The car that I towed was on all 4 wheels, so only adds about 35 pounds to the hitch weight, I was under in all respects to weight on the hitch.
You might try this website. ETrailer.com They might sell the hitch adapter that you are looking for, but it might also only be rated at say 200 pounds?
