Hole in skylight over shower

Have a 2013 Ambassador that has been the "coach from hell". Just picked it up from the dealer after it took six weeks to complete all the repairs from issues we found on it's first trip. This morning we found water coming in from around the shower skylight. After taking the inner liner out we found a small hole/crack that appears as though when they were repairing a roof issue perhaps some dropped a tool or something on it. At any rate, we are settled in and hooked up at our summer location and prefer not to pull up stakes and drive the 150 miles back to the dealer for repair. Any suggestions on how to seal that hole until the unit ones back in the fall? We're leaving the liner out so thi gs can dry out but obviously the hole needs repaired. Thanks.

  • Thank you so much for your suggestions. We'd like to enjoy the next few months. Again, appreciate your help.
  • Since it's a temporary fix, you can find exterior grade duct tape at Home Depot that will seal it up (and would actually last many years). It comes in a small roll and is very similar to the aluminum looking stuff they sell but the tape itself is very thick in comparison.
Or, You could use tape that's meant to be used around window flashing which looks like the same stuff only much wider.
  • Duct tape may work for a couple of months if you just want something cheap until it's replaced. Eternabond is excellent but is quite expensive for a temporary fix.
  • Eternabond Tape.

Take pictures of it, and call the dealer so you are on record with them. This might help so that they won't hassle you in a couple of months when you take it it.
