I played with the switch when the engine was idling at 725 RPM. When I momentarily pressed increase the idle speed went to 750; then pressed it again and it went to 775. Then decrease back down to 725. The cruise control will take it up to 1100 or 1300 imediatly. I think the dash switch is just used to set the correct idle speed.
