Sounds like the previous owner disconnected the macerator and used the stinky slinky.
You'll probably have to loosen the 3" pipe and rotate it upward. There is a 3" flex line that runs from the sewer opening to the macerator pump. From there a 1" hose comes off the pump to discharge the waste into the sewer system. It does NOT rely on gravity.
