Our's (08 knight, identical to your ambassador, kinda like chevelle / lemans?) the outlet sticks straight out.
Your PO's disconnected the sanicon and added the 90 in place of the factory straight adapter.
I highly recommend using the sanicon, I love mine, but...
It probably needs to be rebuilt, there is a rubber impellor inside that wears out. There is also a small metal chopper blade that clogs with hair. Our works way better after I cleaned the hair out of the chopper and put in a new impellor. The old impellor was just gone, nuttin but the shaft left, no blades at all. It still worked but not very well.
The original hose that connected the sanicon to the tank outlet was "flex-hard", much stiffer than a stinky slinky. With the rebuilt pump, mine will pull enough vacuum to partially collapse this hose if I close the outlet blade valves for a second.
Recommend you order from thetford part #'s:
70408 Clear straight adapter w/ o rings
70418 14" inlet hose
70475 impellor with gaskets

I don't post pictures here cause the site doesn't host them and it's a hassle, but if you pm me your email address, I will email you a pic of the setup in my knight.
