- Bruce_BrownModerator^^^ Too much Kool Aide! :B
If you asked my Mom she'd still tell you how great their Tiffin was too - she never had to work on it. :W
Then I remind her of needing to drop it off at my house on the way home from Red Bay to fix what Tiffin was supposed to fix. Or the hours spent adjusting the doors so they could close without hitting each other due to the floor giving out, and...and...and.
Our friends Bus was good too, until they finally decided to take off the blinders and put down the Red Bay Kool Aide. - MagillaGorillaExplorerI have a HR and LOVE it. Its a great MH but with that said I would cast my vote the toe Tiffin too. I talk to other campers all the time and I have yet to find any Tiffin owners that had a single bad word to say about their coaches. They almost have their own category in MH's. There is the upper echelon like Prevost. then there are high end units by multiple mfg's but in between them you find the Tiffin. Not in the league of the Prevost but in a league above all others.
Just my opinion. - William_BExplorerA Scepter is more like a Camelot, not a Dynasty.
- RFCN2ExplorerWe have both Scepter and an Allegro Bus in our small RV Club. Plus several more Holiday Ramblers and several other Tiffins. A couple of the Tiffin owners have complained about long waits to get work done at Red Bay AL.
Personally I would buy the one you like the best and is in the best condition. Make sure the floorpan works for you. And that you like driving the coach. There are significant differences in how well these things handle high winds, big hills up and down, and road stability.
Both the Allegro Bus and the HR Scepter are high end rigs. I like long chassis with short overhangs on both ends of the coach. Those drive better. And big motors. In my experience big diesel motors do not cost you in fuel mileage. Both HR and Tiffin will slip in a too small motor if you are not careful. So make sure the one you buy does not have this problem. Also I think Tiffin has double pane side windows as an option. I would never buy a coach without double pane windows. - Blaster_ManExplorerAll things equal, get the one with the best floor plan.
- Two_JayhawksExplorerBoth are fine motor homes with a great reputation for quality and after market support. I have no experience with Tiffin but my experience (almost 10 years) with Monaco was stellar. Why not choose the one you and your wife like the best?
- jwmIIExplorerMonaco/Holiday Rambler stuff for the most part has usually been a cut above their similar competitors. After the Monaco bankruptcy the service network and company caring is no longer there. It's a shame as there are a lot of good Monaco Corp. coaches out there lacking a customer service network. The present owners do not have to take care of the old customers like the original company would have.
On the other hand Tiffin has an excellent reputation regarding their customer service on new and pre-owned units both. They made it thru the recent downturn and are still doing well. My nod has to go to Tiffin at this time and all this from a Monaco owner. - FlyjayExplorerThank you Bruce!
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerOriginally, when we were looking at purchasing our first coach in 2007, we looked at the Tiffin Allegro Bus first. We then decided to look at Monaco. We liked the Monaco better and moved up a notch to the Dynasty which was about $100,000 more list price ($350,000 MSRP for the Allegro Bus, $456,000 for the Dynasty).
The Dynasty would compare to the Zephyr price-wise.
MM. - FlyjayExplorerThank you everyone!!
