Hooking up a Dish Receiver

Make sure your antenna amplifier is off. Satellite signals won't go through them.

In the meantime, there is a known issue with the IR repeaters in the coach and Dish receivers. Some say it simply will not work and others say it works OK.
You will need to located the IR "eye" in the cabinet and try a few different locations on the receiver right on or around the location of the receive window on the receiver. Using a clear spacer (plexiglass?) has been reported to help as well. The best first hand info if available there but that will give you a couple of things to try.

So let us ask a couple of questions back to you.
What do you mean "cannot operate".
Are you saying you cannot get a picture on any of the two TV's?
Are you getting "snow" on the TV's or just a black screen?
Usually there is a menu on the "input" ... have you clicked on the correct item .... there is usually a "DVD", cable/dish line item?
Like the previous input person said have you pushed the button to off for the antenae?
Do you have the channel on #3 .... a standard channel for receiving a signal?

Which Dish receiver are you using? The Hopper for one, will need IR enabled in the settings menu, as well as UHF for the standard Dish remote.

Call the Dish tech support 800 number. I have always had good luck with them.

The TV antenna amplifier is off. We get a picture. Does not need to be on channel 3. We have a Dish 211 receiver with a tail gater.
The problem is we cannot control the Dish receiver from any of the TV'S with the Dish remote.

Can you change channels using the buttons on the box?

Good batteries in the remote?

Please re-read my post above. This is not a receiver or satellite TV or cabling issue. This issue is specific to the coach you own and the IR repeaters used in the coach to control the Dish receiver.

As you have figured out, the IR repeaters won't work with certain Dish receivers (especially the 211 series). This is a well known problem and it should be noted in your Tiffin manual.

The easiest solution is to change the Dish receivers over to RF remotes. Give Dish a call and see if you can buy them from them or if they have some suggestions. You can also get these UHF/IR convertors on Amazon.

Watch out buying the RF remotes, I did and have same problem you do and they wont work either on my other receiver's. I was told by Direct TV to get them to work you needed to install HD receivers which I'm just using standard.

I tried this over two years ago so maybe something has changed since then. Don't want to step on anyone's toes on this forum.
