Replacing Dish 211 Receiver

I have our coach VIP211k set up so the living area TV can receive satellite/DVR, cable/OTA, or DVD. The bedroom TV can also receive satellite/DVR or cable/OTA independent of the living area TV. When both TV's are on satellite, yes, they both must watch the same channel. I don't think moving the Smartcard to a different receiver alone will work, since the activation is also keyed to the receiver's ID.

No the Smartcard has to electronically matched to the receiver for it to receive programming. You would have to activate that receiver with a matching card or a new card.

It depends on your satellite dish. It needs to have multiple LNBs.

no, get a 625 (IIRC) or a totally separate receiver.

I have the vip622 which is duel tuner/dvr and works perfect,I suggest you have the 4 pads it sits on set on foam to insulate it from road shock which can cause hard drive damage,oh and as long as you are on a satelite with your channels(72.7 has all HD and 61.5 is locals)these are eastern arc sats.you can receive 2 different channels off the same sat.

It really depends on the dish setup on the roof. The Wingard in motion units have two outputs one controls the dish aiming and the other that block down coverts all channels on that satellite. The second tuner cannot see any channel not selected by the main feed. The large flip up units can see all satellites at the same time.

I have a in-motion King Dome sat installed on the roof and I have a 211 in the living room and have to use a separate receiver (211k in the bedroom). With the LR being the primary you can watch any channel in the bedroom as long as its on the same sat signal. On the dish there are 2 coax cables ports, one is primary and the other is aux. Ran a cable from bedroom to roof and then to the sat dish, Did not know that the 622 will work.

Also, if you have a Hopper at home, Dish will only allow the 211 in the M/H. I don't know why but that's their policy.

We have been using a Hopper on the road for more than a year without problem. However, Dish doesn't know and supposedly would repo it if known. We like the ability to record and Dish says the hard drive will not handle vibration. Ours is mounted on foam.

We switch our Hopper and 211k between the coach and our cottage from time to time, and the Hopper has never given us any problems when it's installed in the coach. The 211k has an external hard drive that also travels well with no problems so far.
