I just wanted to clarify a couple of things. When you reefer is connected to 120vac shore power, the converter should be putting out 12vdc to power the house 12v circuits. This includes the reefer, so it will not be using power from the house battery.
When the reefer is running on gas, and not connected to shore power, the reefer's circuit board will be getting its power from the house battery. It will NOT be cooling using the power. It will only be monitoring the temperature of the reefer and controlling the on/off of the gas to keep it cool.
Some reefers (not yours) do have a 12vdc powered cooling system too. In this case there is a 12vdc heater which is a real power drain. In RVs this mode is only used when driving and you really need a high powered alternator to run it. This heater IS connected to the ignition system. But, the circuit board is still running off the house battery.
