- Executive45Explorer IIIMine is washed everytime I wash the coach. In addition, twice a year, it gets inspected, washed and WAXED....Dennis
- Bruce_BrownModeratorI've washed ours once in 11 years.
- S-n-LExplorerWe full time so coach is exposed 24/7. I wash the roof and inspect every 3 months. Then coat the roof and anything plastic with Aerospace 303.
I sometimes wash with car wash soap or sometimes just mop with water. I also clean the slide toppers. I use gentle soap as when it washes down the sides it doesn't wash off the wax on the sidewalls.
If an area is really dirty I spot clean with either dilute simple green or dilute Awesome. - tropical36Explorer

Got up there today and gave it a good scrubbing then scrubbed the rest when I got down. Truth be told I haven't wash it since I bought it in 2013. Once a year? Twice? How many?
With our fiberglas roof, we've found that six months is required along with some floor wax for keeping it from streaking down the sides. - msturtzExplorer

Depending on the roof type they are supposed to be washed every 6 months or so. It’s very important to keep the roof clean as it’s the only way to verify that the sealant is in good condition. I try to follow that schedule. I also inspect and reseal the roof on the same schedule. It’s far easier to keep up on the roof cleaning and maintenance than dealing with a leaking roof. I just inspected and resealed my sidewall a few weeks ago and I checked and resealed the roof earlier this year. I’m paranoid about water. It’s also why I have a mechanical dehumidifier in my coach.
What do you wash your roof with?
When I had an EPDM rubber roof I used the specialty cleaner recommended by the manufacturer for EPDM roofs. With TPO there isn't as much of an issue so I just use mild, non-abrasive household detergent and water. The idea is to remove any bird droppings, algae mold, dirt, dust, and other contaminants that are abrasive and can damage the roof membrane. - SidecarFlipExplorer IIINever, I cannot see it anyway.
- LwiddisExplorer IIOnce per year...lightly from a ladder, not on the roof...before annual roof maintenance.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIWell so long as everything is working (Short story I took 3 years off due to engine failure. Actually the engine was murdered it did not fail. something else did and killed it. Turned out to be an insurance claim (Thank you Nationwide).)
Spring and fall. Or in other words 2 days ago.. I go up with hose. spray wand Bucket, Spic and Span (yes the same stuff you use on a kitchen floor) and a long handled "Van wash" brush (Soft bristled car wash brush with a telescoping handle) Optional.. A mop.. Again just like the kitchen floor.
Mop it down
Spray it down
Return to ground
Also clean A/C condensers first.
Then (using the same brush but a Carwash produce) Do the front back and sides
Then (normally) paste or cream wax (lots of fun 37'7" of 12 foot tall Motor home)
this year due to weather and time I used a "Wash & Wax" product. I'd If I get time and a good day or two I may re-wax with Turtle Wax ICE but... alas.. Don't have the time this week.
Next week.. 800 mile hike to South Carolina..
(Now you know why the wax job. Adds MPG). - wildtoadExplorer IIMines under ar carport when not in use, but still gets dirty and birds nest above it. I try to wash it 2 times a year, but will hose it off every few washes. I’ve found I can wash all of it from the sides with a long handle wash pad, so I don’t need to get up on it.
- jplante4Explorer IIOnce a year with TSP the 2 coats of Mop 'n Glow. 23 year old Filon roof. After using TSP you'll need to wash the sides right away.
