How to keep dog bone dry (electrical)

As long as they are in good condition and plugged in tightly, you don't need to keep them dry. They are exterior devices.

The only thing I do is make sure that the actual metal parts of the plug are dry before you plug it in. Of course, if at all possible, avoid plugging them in when it's actually raining but once they are plugged in, no worries...

Don't wrap them or put plastic bags over them, as this will trap moisture and actually make things worse.

If you want to keep the contacts nice and clean, you can get some silicone di-electric grease from the hardware store ... with the power off, fill each of the female connectors with grease, and then plug in the male connector, you're now all set.

Just have a couple of large, black trash sacks. You want the large size that will fit down over the whole CG pedestal.

Did that trick 2 weeks ago at the Perry FMCA Convention. 4 coaches plugged in, all using adapters. I just put a trash sack over the pedestal-- rained a couple of days, but none of the connections got wet.

As the other said. Just leave them hang. No wrapping.

In 7 yrs of Full Time traveling I have never worried about adapters and/or OEM plug staying dry..........just pug them in.

Might be a problem if laying in a puddle of water.

At my sister's place I have to use a long extension cord (heavy gauge 30A) to get power so that connection is inside a plastic tub with lid.

Don't let them sit on the groound.

You don'y need the bag but if you do make sure it is large and the bottom stays wide, so condensation does not run to the cable/adapter.

Some of us use extension cord and make all adapter connections in electrical compartment.

That is interesting about not using plastic bags. I have always used zip lock bags over my EMS/50AMP plug. I cut a hole in the bottom of the bag and pull it down over the EMS/50AMP plug like a dress. I then use a wire tie to wrap it around the cut hole to close it up a bit. I guess you could use Gorilla tape if you want a really tight seal but I have never used it myself. Then I ALWAYS leave the bottom of the bag open for air circulation. I have done this for several years without damage. YMMV.
