How to Run HDMI cable-Southwind

We have a 2010 32ft Fleetwood Southwind and want to add a large screen TV on the wall. We will need to run a cable from the front top compartment to the middle wall in the center of MH. Any recommendations on the best way to do this is appreciated. Thank you!
  • I drilles holes in the cabinets and went through them up high and out of sight. Bob
  • Is there a crown moulding or some type of removable trim at the ceiling line? You could remove that and run the cable behind it. For your HDMI cable try ordering from Blue Jeans Cable. Top quality cable in any length you need at very good pricing. DO NOT buy HDMI cable from Best Buy or Futureshop.
  • good suggestions above. I try to go "sideways" but sometimes "down-out-over-up-in" makes more sense. Also, monoprice.com for all cable. If you pay more you are throwing your money away. Ignore the hype.
  • I ran mine along the trim over to the slideout then across the top of slide,it has no problem getting caught up it just slides on the top and stays behind the trim when slide is all the way out, then just down the rear trim to wall,no drilling.
  • Agree with the wireless HDMI since I just did that. If you use cable and go over 18ft you will need a booster. Before the wireless HDMI option I checked on putting in an HDMI cable. By the time I got done I would have had 25-30 involved with a booster and a bill north of $400.
  • Correct, the system in the link is not HD compatible. I have been looking at these for a while. Prices range from $1000 to $200 for systems that say they can transmit an HD signal. If you do Google searches there are mixed reviews.

BestBuy has a system from Actiontec that is in the $200 range. Reviews on it are mixed. Nice thing is you by it and try it out and if it doesn't work then take it back.

One advantage I see to wireless, is you can get multiple receivers. My issue is I have a coax cable running back to my bedroom and to my outside outlet. With wireless I could put a receiver in bedroom and have one to use for outside and not have to worry about trying to get an HDMI cable all the way to the back.

If the wireless doesn't work for me, another potential solution for running cable is to simply attach it to the ceiling using some type of plastic molding or track system to run the cable in and hide it. Yes this will give you some weird looking piece of plastic on your ceiling, but it's an option. Like somebody else already mention I can probably snake it all the way to the back in cabinets too, but I'll still have to cross areas without cabinets so you could do a combination of that and plastic track molding to hide it.
  • Here's a link to a review of another unit that might work...and it's HD!

  • Been looking at same project. One option high on my list is to run two cat5/6 cables and use hdmi cat5 balun. MUCH cheaper (under $25 for a pair on ebay) and easier to install. I can get cat5 thru existing ceiling wire path to a'cond duct or go undeneath floor in pvc conduit. Problem with hdmi is the large plug ends where cat five will fit in 1/4 hole. Just offering an alternative.
