how to secure refrigerator door while traveling

Some one just posted on how to secure a refrigerator doors while traveling. I no longer see the post but try Lowes and Homedepot, Amazon and THINK SMALL KIDS. Many items out there for that, for every room in the house.

  • we use this
    for freezer and fridge

i think i got them at orchard or home depot

because the fridge sets in a cabinet
    i reversed the ends
placing the long piece on side..coming around to the front
making it easy to push the release, when we get parked
  • We use a Velcro strap that we wrap around the two handles. Works just fine. For the freezer we put some sticky back Velcro on the side of the fridge and on the front edge of the compartment. We use a Velcro strap to hold that door closed as well.

  • The OP is talking about a household refrigerator in an RV not an RV fridge. As an example, I have a 20.5 CF GE Profile side-by-side with ice/water through the door. Not designed for any kind of mobile use so if you don't secure the doors in some way while traveling you are going to have a mess on your hands.
  • I just close the fridge doors.....never had an RV with a fridge that doors didn't stay closed.

    What fridges are at issue?

This is the lock I use and it's simple and works great. Made by the LAMP Company. It sounds like you might have a French Door setup with 2 doors and a drawer so it may or may not work for your setup (you would need 2).

    clicky

The other thing used successfully is the spring loaded push latches like this.... clicky
They can be installed in the gap between the top of the drawer and the frame in most cases (use 2) and one or 2 can be installed on each door to keep them closed while driving and still easy enough to open.
