HWH Hyd/Air Leveling System problem

While attempting to level my 1999 Beaver Marquis, I pressed the AIR leveling button on the HWH Hyd/Air leveler and rather than light up, several lights blinked on and off. Pressed again, same thing.

I had used the system before and it was always simply press AIR twice and it would auto level using the air bags.

I ignored it for a while, and in the meantime moved the coach a few feet as it had been blocking my driveway. Once stopped again, I tried again but this time nothing happened, ie the panel had no life at all to it - no lights.

For the first time this year we did have cold weather in the 30s on that day, and in the past when I've used the system its been significantly warmer (40-50s). Also I hadn't driven it anywhere in 3 months or so, and did drive it about 30 miles from my storage location to my home. Up until that point I had used the leveling system while at the storage location with slide out (did not have the slide out this particular time) and with slide in and it had always worked (maybe 4-5 times in the past 3 months or so). I don't have much of a history with this coach as I did purchase it in September, 2013.

Another thing is, I had replaced my bose radio so I have been playing with wires in that area, but the control panel is not in the dash, its to the left of the driver and at the very rear of the "side dash" area, so I didn't think that would be the issue.

I've read in other places that I might be able to press a reset button in the wiring service cabinet beneath the driver's side front. The coach is in storage so what I am looking for are some troubleshooting ideas for when I go back.

I thing you will solve your problem.
  • if you are sure that its not a loose wire in the connector plug, check to see if its a solder connection on the circuit board. if thats the problem, maybe you or a local computer shop could repair that.
last resort is to send the box in to hwh and have them check it out. use service@hwh.com to request a rga tracking number. i would send both the touch panel and the control box.
the operators manual will not give you as much technical info as the service manual. both can be found on the hwh website.
  • This problem repeated itself on a cross country this a couple months back, and this time, the panel plug was tight but the connection inside the controller (in the electrical bay of the 1999 Beaver Marquis) was loose. I'd written to HWH prior to finding the issue myself, but got no response from them at all. So, in this situation, check both connections, the panel, and the Printed Circuit board inside the controller box.
  • I forgot to subscribe to this forum, thought I'd checked and didn't have any responses, so thanks for your response. I was back at my storage location today and looked in the manual but didn't find the troubleshooting. So I went to the controller in the service center in the coach and that leveling panel did seem to work. So my first check was to unscrew the 4 Phillips head screws to remove the pilot's leveler controller interface and bingo, the cable had slipped off. Plugged it back in, screwed it back down, and all is well again.
  • Try this website at HWH HWH Service Manuals

Begin with the second item to identify your leveling system. Once you know which system you have then download the appropriate manual. There is a step by step trouble shooting procedure in the manual.
