  • To avoid all Phoenix traffic I would take exit 109 off of I-10, the Sun Valley Parkway. Go to the 303, and then over to I-17.
The Sun Valley Parkway is 4 lane divided all the way around to the 303, and 303 is 4 lane divided to I-17.
  • Been through and around Phoenix several time with out bother, and we are NOT experienced freeway drivers. Mind you, we have even been through LA twice towing the jeep, again, no problem.
  • Phoenix is the easiest big city to get through. Even in rush hour traffic moves. Both of the above routes given would be good. Have a good trip!

    Rush hour is easy to.

  • There's nothing wrong with 101..it bypasses Phoenix.

Take 215 north, I-10 East, 101 North, I-17 North to Camp Verde, then 260 west. That's the most direct route.

    An alternate route would be:

Take 215 North, I-10 East, US 60 (after you pass Q) East, 74 East (towards Lake Pleasant) I-17 North and 260 West...This route is much much longer..

    Enjoy Thousand Trails....Dennis
  • When I go to the ThousandTrails at Cottonwood, Arizona I take I-40 all the way to Flagstaff and then 17 to Verde Valley and Cottonwood.
