Ice maker valve in Norcold refigerator

Hi there everyone,

We have a 2003 Allegro bus with a four door Norcold refrigerator in it. The Refrigerator has an ice maker that has stopped filling the ice tray. I think it might be the valve on the back side of the unit. I'm able go get to the valve, but I'm not sure how to test it. I know part of the ice maker is 120 volts but I don't know if the valve is.

If anyone has any insight on this, and how I might go about getting a replacement valve, I'd greatly appreciate it!

    IF you had a problem with the feed line to the icemaker tray, you would have either NO water to the tray or a lot of water leaking down behind the refer. REPLACE the Icemaker assbly. That will fix your problem. Doug

    Ok, so I do have water flowing to the ice cube trays if I jumper from a 110 outlet to the water valve. I stuck a VOM meter on the control wires from the ice maker to the water valve and never saw any voltage as the ice maker cycled through. So, I would concur there might be something wrong with the ice maker. Do you folks concur or do you think there might still be an issue with the 'Heater tube'?

    What happens is the Heat tape crystalizes the plastic water line and it breaks from the brittleness. Doug

    Lets see, $100, 100 bags of ice or, 2 ice cube trays and 84 bottles of Blue Moon. Boy, that is a tough decision.

    i was getting water outside and i blew air in it and nothing came out in side i could hear air coming out when i was out side but the main thing was i was getting water out side evey time it called for water

    How did you determine that the heater tube was bad? I'd love the insight when you get a chance.

    It is NOT a Heater Hose. What you have is the water feed line from the solenoid to the Icemaker mold assbly. They have a heater tape around the water tube, but it is NOT a heater hose. The only time the heater section comes ON is in sub 32 degree outside ambient temps. Yes, you DO have to pull the refer to do THIS type repair. BUT, the OP asked about the ICEMAKER, and you do not pull the refer to replace it. Doug

    my ice maker quit to and found out it was the heater tube is bad and to replace it u have to pull the ref out and get to the back and lowes carrys the ice maker i have one orderd for a spare the heater hose is 35.99 from an rv dealer and it will be here tuesday

    ALL RV refer Icemakers are accessed from the inside. You do not have to pull the refer. Doug

    Hi there All,

    Thanks for the feed back. I did pull the valve after DW reminded me several times about it not working! :-).

    A test of the valve proved the valve was working just fine. I'll take a look at Lowes and Home depot for a replacement.

    Does anyone know, do I have to pull the refrigerator to replace the ice maker, or can I do it all through the front of the fridge?
