Ice maker valve in Norcold refigerator

Hi there everyone,

We have a 2003 Allegro bus with a four door Norcold refrigerator in it. The Refrigerator has an ice maker that has stopped filling the ice tray. I think it might be the valve on the back side of the unit. I'm able go get to the valve, but I'm not sure how to test it. I know part of the ice maker is 120 volts but I don't know if the valve is.

If anyone has any insight on this, and how I might go about getting a replacement valve, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Happy camping!

The Icemaker extra Power Cord was a OEM option. Not all 1200's have 2 cords. Doug

  • The replacement Ice Maker unit is now $99.99 at Lowe's or Home Depot...both of them carry it. That said, do you have any water in the space under the fridge on the outside? If so, your water line has come loose from the water fill tube. I had mine come loose three times in as many years. It's only a pressed fitting into the fill tube so they work their way loose. Check for water around or below the valve. If that's the case, the fridge must be pulled forward to access the line. There is no easy fix......Dennis
  • Should you need to replace your ice maker unit, if your's is a 1200LRIM like mine I bought the ice-maker assembly complete with valve from Lowes back in 2010. At the time it was $53.92--probably more now. It's a Whirlpool #57773 did the change out myself, not too difficult.

    Good luck & Safe travels

As usual Doug has the best advice. I have to pour water in mine the first time to get it to work. You can check the valve by doing a Ohms test on the two white wires that go to it. Pull them off the control board (makes no difference which goes back on) and you should read less than 10 ohms.
  • Manually pour some water into the Icemaker tray mold. Wait 24 hours, if the ice does NOT dump, you have a bad icemaker assbly. I have not seen a bad water valve in years other than frozen damaged ones. Doug
  • Value should click when you put jumper wire on it to test. They are pretty cheap.
  • Valve is 120- volts AC
The valve should have the voltage printed in it and any appliance dealer that sells parts should have it.
