You thought $42 was too much? Forty two dollars! Did you want them to give it away?:B - BlackdiamondExplorerThat was my budget, I ended up with the one in my sig for under $30k including the new tires, batteries and a new carb for the gen that it needed.
- jplante4Explorer IIWe were looking for a specific model and after 6 months of looking we found one practically in our back yard. What you want is out there, you just have to do your research and find it. I would look for an early 2000s Monaco or late 90s Newmar.
Craig's List is your friend. Stay local.
Edit: Just did a search of RVT.com class A diesel, $0-40000 came up with 224 listings. - glamisorbustExplorer IIKeep your eyes peeled and the deal of a lifetime will come your way. I started looking about this time last year, and by august 2014 the deal I was waiting for came my way.
A gentleman wanted to sell his RV and toad together, would not separate them. So I purchased an immaculate 1999 holiday rambler endeavor DP with a 2006 Honda CRV toad for $32k. This was the whole package, towbar, brake system on toad, etc. Good thing I was also in need of a second vehicle!!!
Mine has one large slide and air brakes, air ride, 5.9 cummins ISB, 7500 onan quiet diesel generator, all the options. We have used it 6 times since august(mostly week long trips) and we absolutely love it. A dream to own something this nice! - MagillaGorillaExplorerMy first MH was a 1996 Damon. I paid $16k for it in 2007. I just sold it this week and it served me well (most of the time) while I had it.
My new MH is a 2006 Damon that I paid $40k (11,000 miles on it)for last week. I hope it serves me well too.
There are plenty of MH's out there for $40k or under. Most are over 10 years old but if they are well maintained then it should not be a big deal. I do admit that you need to look longer and harder to find a nice one in that price range (more******out there than nice stuff) but it is possible.
I have a feeling there are more people out there with my budget then there are people out there looking to spend over $250k. I am 48 both kids have finished college and moved out recently but I have a real world budget. Spending $100k was not an option for us. I would like it if it were but its not. - Triker33Explorer

A travel trailer. You won't get much in the way of a motor home.
:S Here is 16 DP MH's for under 40K. - wildtoadExplorer IISeveral years back, I bought our current MH for half of that and even then perhaps paid too much. A lot depends on what your plans are. For us a now 15 yo unit, no slides, 31 ft long is just fine. Lot of well maintained older gas and some DP's can be picked up for that kind of money.

- RoyBExplorer III suspect It will cost almost that much to properly operate and maintain the MH's as well...
- MagillaGorillaExplorerThere are lots of used MHs under $40k
