Info and opinions, please

Hi Folks, Thinking of buying a new Winnebago26HE and would like to hear pros and cons or any other info anyone thinks I should know. We have no RV experience and really looking to do overnight trips, maybe even a few days now and then. Seems like a reasonable price point and a managable size to at least start with. BTW, we're retired so can travel leasurly, I hope. Thanks, Les in NJ

Well, it's been stated already but, if this is truly your first time at RVing, I too would recommend taking a hard look as some good used units. New is always nice but, this most likely would not be the first thing you've ever bought new and, you've realized depreciation before. And, there's some serious depreciation on any motor home so, that's just something to think about.

Now, You can also drop back a couple to say, four to five years old and pick up a really nice unit that will have some real low mileage, have hopefully had all or most of the "bugs" taken care of too. And, you'd get an upgraded unit from what you're thinking about right now. I'd cruised into a couple of RV shows an check out all the used units and see what's available. Good luck.

  • 26 is small, be sure you won't want more space before purchasing. I would bet you will be wishing you had gone bigger, and yes, used if this is for just a few overnight trips.
  • take a hard look at aval. counterspace & small cab's . think abt this 1
also short wheel base might be hard ride
  • Forget new. Start used. Guaranteed you will make a change within the first couple of years. Besides, there is no use throwing money down the drain of a depreciating asset unless you guaranteed will keep it nearly for ever.
