Installing an inverter

Wow thanks for the responses.

I plan on putting on 4 225-250 watt panels.

And several batteries, but I read several folks having issues with MSW and certain electronics. esp fridge.

So I rather get the PSW

Lipets.....for the simplest and most reasonably priced unit, I would go with the Magnum ME (msw). This is a great inverter, it will give you all the power you need and will be easy to connect to what you have now. You can add auto start and it already has a great three stage battery charger.

If you have extra cash, you can go with the same model in pure sine wave.

You should probably also install a sub panel for the inverter. This can be real a PITA.

I have a MS2000 PSW Inverter/Charger and a ME-AGS-N (networked auto gen start) which are both connected to a ME-ARC Remote Control.

I prefer to have separate components. I.e. a stand alone inverter, and a stand alone charge controller.

How many watts of solar are you planning on?

If your pockets are deep enough you may wish to consider going to 24 volts with a dc to dc converter to handle the 12 volt part of the RV.

Magnum makes a good inverter/charger and their latest product includes the ability to "boost" generator or shore power should the need arise.

I agree with previous posters about battery capacity. We too have the Xantrex prosine 2.0 , 420 watts of solar and 484 AH of battery--4 GCs. Running the microwave from the inverter draws 150 Amps from the batteries. (more the longer the MW is running and battery voltage drops--up to 180 amps) That's 75+ amps per pair of batteries. 6 batteries would bring that down to 50-60 Amps per pair.

The Magnum is a great inverter with excellent customer support. I would also recommend their battery combiner
