OP: The instructions on my Demco tow plate said to use Locktite on the fasteners and I did. Eleven years later and still no problems.
Hmmmm....interesting. I have a larger bottle (4 oz.?) of Loctite Red and have had it for very many years and it's still good. My understanding is that when storing it, there must be air kept in the container with it. If there isn't any air, it will harden up. The exact opposite you would do with most substances. Their advertising states "...it cures in the absence of air.".
