Installing linoleum in camper 04 Adventure

I have started removing the carpet from my M/H. I know several have done this so would like some advise. How do you remove the carpet from under the slid and get the new tile back under. I'm also removing the linoleum. I've come to the conclusion to replace the part under the carpete first and then remove the sticky tiles and put the new stuff down. Any help or advise you can give would be appreciated. CharWan
  • I though of pictures but I tried to post some one time before and I never could get it to work. I'll make some and try again
  • Well here is how it went. I removed the table bench seats and removed all the carpet with no trouble. Worked over to the couch and pulled the foot rest out and removed it. Only 2 boles and a cable. The bench seats only had 11 screws holding them down. Ran the flooring over to the slide edge and used a floor srtrip for uneven flooring and seems to be working great. Installed new 1/4 round and that was it. Now for the carpet under the frt. seats. I stoped the flooring at the break at the engine cover. It changes to metal from there up.
  • 'charwan".....If you can't lift your slide and you don't have many options, I would cut your linoleum so that you start with the first piece under the slide. Glue it and slide it under, then work out from there. Using something strong and flat like, a cement finishing trowel from Home Depot, to slide under and press the linoleum down as best you can.
  • Yep, they are. However if the slide is alway out the bench seats sit down on the floor. So if you bring the slide in about 2 in. when it lifts up there is a space about 2 or 3 in. to work in. I'm thinking of removing them to get under them.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll look at doing this. Not sure how much it goes under the slide. Yes, this slid comes up as it starts in. I'm sure it was installed before the slide. How about under the table which extends past the slide edge. Also the couch.

Don't know about that - my dinette/table and couch were on the slide.

It Winnebago says the slide can be lifted up, they told me two men could lift it up enough to put blocks under it to hold it while they worked under it. They use airbags rather than blocks though.

  • I didn't remove it under the slide. I cut the carpet leaving just enough to staple it down securely and hid it with baseboard attached to the slide.
If you don't want to do that, check with Winnebago. Some slides (Kwikee brand I know) can be extended part way and then lifted up a few inches.
  • Quick update. I have started removing the sticky tiles and found a rought spot. Every other tile has extra glue they put down that is very hard to get up. That's two glues beside the stick tile glue. I have started in frt. of the stove and sink. I'm getting close to the couch and table so need advice on how this is going to work. CharWan
