What you need for insurance will be determined by how you plan to use the motorhome.. If you are full-timing then you might need higher contents insurance to cover the things you have in the motorhome. You also might need personal liability as if it is a home. You can also try Good Sam insurance but other policies are less expensive. In New York State Farm is the only company I know of that will let you go down to just comprehensive while the unit is being stored WITHOUT turning in your plates and going through the reregistration hassle. Are you planning to get GOOD Sam roadside assistance? If so then you do not need the assistance provided by the insurance company.
Long story short is YOU need to figure out what you need before you shop. Therefore the first time out you might want to talk to your local agent. You will find out quickly enough if he is knowledgeable agent or just sells policies. He should educate you and give you coverage to fit your needs. Then in 6 months you can shop price knowing you probably have the correct coverage for your situation.
