- bobmaccExplorerThe Intellitec system would be better described as a load shedding system. The Progressive Industries systems and other versions of current "true" - for lack of a better word - EMS units manage the quality of the electrical connection to the coach without managing the load / usage that the Intellitec system does. A bit confusing as they are both described as "EMS" systems but have completely different functionality. Very confusing unless you are familiar with both.
- Big_KatunaExplorer III run two ACs routinely on 30A. THe Intellitec EMS manages the timing of the compressors going on, etc. Can't run much else tho.
- Retired_JSOExplorer IISorry don't mean to Hijack this thread.
Yes I am confused. First of all, I am confusing Intellitec with my Heart Interface up front. Second, the Progressive Industries Power Management system in the power bay shows 2 legs, one drawing 15 amps, the second showing 20 amps, both close to 125 volts. I had a campground with 30 amp reversed polarity a while back, code e-1 , so I am figuring that out..
Will any of these systems allow me to run both Airs on a 30 amp service?
This thing even has a Cummins, Road Relay 4. Too much stuff to learn is such a short time..
Sorry for the Hijack... - Big_KatunaExplorer IIUPDATE; RESOLVED!!
Had time to look at the problem today in the light of day.
I have to use an extension cord from my house to the RV cord. A wire had come loose inside the Camco replacement plug I had put on a year or so ago. I thought I had measured 120 on both legs the other n9ght when I posted but in the light of day, I pulled the cover off the transfer switch which is under the bed, and ony had one leg. Outside, I had measured both legs at the breaker box and unplugged the cord for the extension cord a little so I could read voltage on the blades of the cord, which was there. But it wasn't making it inside.
Redid the plug and everything is good again.
Thanks for the help and the manual.
Now to find a better replacement plug. The Camco doesn't have enough metal to suit me. - poli964ExplorerI have had the same problem 3 months ago.....like other member said the problem was in the main box....2 or 3 of the wires were not tight enough...
Good luck

BOTH of these posts are not correct. There is NO WAY an Intellitec 50 amp EMS will show anything other than 50 amp service if on TRUE 50 amp service. If the Intellitec shows 50 amp,
1. YOU CANNOT change the service to 30 or 20
2. The AMP readout will NOT be on.
There are basically 3 ways you can plug into 50 amps and the Intellitec will say "30"
One: Park is not properly wired, you have L-1, N L-1 (or L-2 N L-2) this not proper 50 amp service and in fact is a fire hazard.
2: Defective Intellitec
3: Other defective part or tripped breaker feeding it.
(Oh, and 4, forgot this one,,, Someone messed with the order of breakles in your box and put both lines to the EMS on the same leg) - Rick_JayExplorer IIdougrainer,
I don't have any EMS on my rig, but your explanation a few posts back about a breaker being shut off makes sense, and I'm sure many would not think of that.
Once again, your experience and advice is appreciated.
Thanks,

Has your display EVER shown 50amps. Mine only shows 20 or 30 even though we are on 50..it's never shown 50 and my manual indicates, even though you're on 50 it will only show 30..:h....Dennis
Ours never shows 50 either.. 20, or 30, but can be set to 50 with the button.
JSO, you are confusing the remote INVERTER display with the Intellitec EMS system display. That 50/30/20/15 button change is for how many AMPS you want the CHARGER section of the Inverter/charger to pull. Doug- mscampingExplorerYC1, you didn't read what I said.. If you read across two hot 120 volt lines that are parallel it will read "0", yet they both will read 120 to ground/neutral.. They have to come from opposite windings on the secondary side of the transformer to read/get 240 volt.. Mike Mathews..

The 2nd poster has a Newmar, you CANNOT select 50 amp on a Intellitec EMS system.
The First poster, If you have never seen 50 amp, then 1. You have never been on TRUE 50 amp service, or your EMS system is malfunctioning. As another poster stated, you MUST have ALL the Circuit breakers in your main panel ON, because 2 of those breakers supply 120 power to the EMS board and those 2 leads are out of phase (each must be from the separate 120 legs coming in to the RV). IF either of those leads is dead, then the EMS system will function like it is on 30 amp even if you are on 50 amp. A COMMON problem with malfunctioning EMS systems is, the wiring has been modified over the years by someone that did not know what they were doing, and the system cannot see the 50 amp service and operate accordingly. I had a customer that kept complaining that he could never get the 50 amp system to function. Each time I reset the Washer/Dryer breaker. He kept turning the breaker OFF (he did not have a washer/dryer). I asked him after the 3rd trip in why he kept turning that breaker OFF. He stated he turned it off because he did not have a washer/dryer. Well, THAT breaker was one of the 2 that supplied power to the EMS board. Once he left it ON, his EMS then functioned. Doug
