Inverter outlet for TV

I am planning on wiring a dedicated outlet to the TV form my inverter the problem is I see do easy way to run it thru the walls or cabinets to where TV is located. I am sure someone must have run into this problem and how did you solve it? Do not need to run anything else just the TV and DVD player.
  • Look into running the electrical wire underneath your coach and then coming up through the floor to the wall or location where the TV will be.

This is what I have one for a couple of installs in a smaller TT..

Since you usually have two 120VAC receptacles at the PSW Inverter I would run one leg to the Home Entertainment center location an the second run to the bedroom location. I used long extension cords that ha multiple 120VAC receptacles on the end. All the extension cords are hid behind cabinets an if you have to run outside the trailer walls you can run WIRE MOLD kits that will cover in 12-foot sections from LOWES.

I then installed the multiple 120VAC end on the back part of a table part with only the receptacles visible. These cords usually have an ON-OFF switch which is even better...

Since this is a somewhat permanent installation I would only use a PURE SINE WAVE type Inverter as you may not have control from many users plugging things into the emergency circuit. The PSW Type Inverter will operate any 120VAC Appliances where MSW type Inverters may cause damage to the 120VAC appliances.

This drawing may give you some idea how my install worked out...

  • What kind of inverter? Does it have a transfer switch built in. If so you only need to isolate the existing circuit to the TV at the current breaker panel and feed it through the inverter transfer switch.
  • When I have run extra wires or cable for something I look for existing wireways and follow them. To pull the wire/cable through I use my electrical fish tape. I do sometimes have to pull some panels off, but that is part of the job. As a retired electrician I do not like seeing exposed wires. JMO
  • Isn't the TV presently powered thru the inverter? Ours is wired that way.

When motorhomes are built, the TV is normally wired so it can't be operated while the engine is running. That's to avoid being cited for having the TV within the view of the driver. Of course, if the TV is behind the driver or in the bedroom, that isn't an issue.
