Inverter use and electronics

I have had a convection oven and 2 sat receivers go bad after using my inverter to power the electronics.

I also have observed that my flatscreen puts out a high pitch noise when on the inverter.

I am wondering if the power from the inverter, since it is not a true sine wave is causing early failure of these items.

Your thoughts ?
  • My CPAP machine will run on modified sine wave, but the humidifier attachment has a sticker attached to it that says true sine wave only. I purchased a true sine wave inverter and installed it in the bedroom to be used only by the CPAP. In fact I plug the CPAP into the inverter so I can still use the machine in case of a power failure.
  • Yes, it is lousy MSW power that's giving you problems. It makes little sense to shove crappy msw power to your expensive gear.
  • Many inverters caution that the modified sine wave power may damage sensitive electronic devices. It seems to be a******shoot as to what ones are affected and which ones are not. Digital electric blankets and some cell phone chargers seem to fail quite frequently and digital clocks do not seem to work well at all.
