Is 50 gallons of fresh water enough for boondocking?

Grey water doesn’t disappear. If you are dumping it on the ground say so. Oh wait, that’s a crime!

Ok, my water use has changed but I have an 80 gallon tank. I'm SOLO

Day before halloween 2017 I tanked up. Ran out Thanksgiving morning. but in fairness I also filled up in MI and ran out in SC so a spent a lot of time sitting on the throne in a Flying-J and eating in Denny's instead of doing my own dishes.

Normally during the summer I fill every 2 weeks.

I finally fixed my Half bath (Gravity toilet) and took the main bath (Macerator) out of service (Use it for storage. Use park showers) and last week I broke a hot water "T" fitting. FIgured out where it was just before I returned to this park (NOTE: I filled 2 weeks ago at this point) and during work opened the water compartment and noticed tank still half full.

NOt that is one person. park showers I estimate 25 gallons a week.

We do a week in the woods on 21 gallons of fresh water all the time.

You have to train the people you travel with. 50 gallons can go 5 days easily, or a lot more. People that have been backpacking know instinctively how to save water. You can use creek and lake water for a lot of things like solar showers.

Outdoors RV makes rigs for the boondocks. Their small trailers have 80 gallon tanks.

Years ago we had a 21' Class C with just a 25 gallon fresh tank, but we easily boondocked for 7-10 days at our favorite remote tree farm in the Adirondacks. The stream fed pond about 50' from our site served as both our bath tub and after running it through an RO filter, our fresh water source. We still go there with our Class A, but with a 65 gallon fresh tank, we only use the pond for swimming and bathing now, but it's still our favorite boondocking site.

Our old TT had 48 gallons and it lasted 8 days with each showering every day. Also did dishes inside. A friend has 26 gallons and never uses it for showers, washes dishes outside, and runs out in 3 days.

Your useage will vary

Let me know where you boondock as I can avoid the odor coming off your family. I would much rather be clean than worry about water usage.

It's just the wife and me and we have a 48 gallon fresh water tank. If I'm very careful not to use any water myself and my wife is as careful as she can be with her water usage, we get about 3 1/2 hours of use before I have to fill up the tank again.

Had a single friend once who boondocked for over a year on three gallons per day. You can do the math. She was fanatical about getting usage down as low as possible, using one of those gallons to do dishes and then flush toilet. One went to cook and drink. The third went for sponge bath then flush toilet. YMMV.
