K&N filters

Do not use on a diesel.

Nothing wrong with K&N filters if you are smart enough to follow the instructions regarding oiling/re oiling the filter element. When folks say it fouled their MAF sensor it is an admission that they over oiled the filter. :S

I have used them for years with good result (the last time my mechanic went to clean the throttle body it was immaculate), and they pay for themselves vs buying pricey paper filters, after a couple of years.

As always.... Opinions and YMMV.

And until the filter starts to get a little dirty, those coarse holes are letting lots of dirt through.

As far as I'm concerned K&N amongst all the other similar intakes are less restrictive than stock. I do think they allow the engine to breath & perform better but other than that, I have never noticed any increase in mpg. As far as clogging the mass air, that will occur if too much oil is used when servicing the filter. I do have to say, having added my K&N along with "Cat Back" exhaust the truck performs much better when towing. Those two enhancements work well together. IMHO

I have seen a lot of posts of other forms
both pro and con. I have used one on my car
awhile back.

From reading, the K&N does not filter the smaller
particles that damage valves etc until it is dirty.

Instead of using a K&N or buying one of the expensive
ram kits, for my V10, I just took off the
front of the filter housing so the filter would be exposed.

I have had no issues in major down pours getting the
filter wet and causing problems.

It sounds Lauder (old gear head likes that) like an open
air filter on a muscle car.
On my Class C and towing a Dolley with CVR I average 8+ MPG.

As they say your millage may vary.

Lots of information on them. Most undetstand they are a waste of money. Air flow studies show them to actually restrict air flow.
