- mtrumpetExplorerI had to deal with KVH last year with regard to a mechanical problem I was having with mine (KVH R4SL). They were useless as far as obtaining any information. KVH said that I could send the entire dome to them and they would take a look at it for me. HOWEVER, they wanted $310.00 just to look at it, PLUS parts+Labor for whatever they do to it afterward, PLUS I have to pay the freight both ways. At that point, I might as well just look for a new Satellite. They also said it would be approximately 4 weeks turn around. I ended up fixing the problem myself. It's been working fine most of the time, but I've since purchased a Winegard combination air antenna / manuall crank up satellite to have as a backup which I will be installing in place of the old crank up TV antenna. I had the manual crank up dish on my old gasser, and it never let me down. Sometime, simpler is better.
I've been using my DT11 SD DirecTV boxes with my KVH for about 4 years now without any problem (aside from the afore mentioned mechanical problem with the dome). - moishehExplorerIf your dome has a connection for low speed data none of the current Direct rcvrs. will work easily. If your rcvr. is one of the old units Direct has shut them off. You should have received an email and a letter from Direct with a complete explanation. I think your unit has to be a D10 or newer. There is a workaround to make it work.
Moisheh - GalvanizdExplorerSnomas,
They haven't supported those for some time now. You've been using yours on borrowed time. I had the KVH L3. Did the same as yours. Worked great for about 6 years then quit locking on the signal. KVH advised that it probably had what they called a "brown out" and need software upgrade> it would have been about $150.00 with no guarantee that it would solve the problem and they added that they no longer made my unit. That was about 3 yearrs ago. I got the Wineguard carryout. works great. - SnomasExplorerKVH told me today they no longer support the model LM KVH dish. Just a way to spend more of our money! That just sucks!!!!!
- jdevans22ExplorerCheck all the cable connections including the dish on the roof. We have found a bad connection at the dish first time this happened. The last time their was a loose connection at the reciver. Spray them with connect cleaner.
- DSDP_DonExplorerSnomas.....when I had a KVH dome and the D-10 box, my sat would occasionally not connect. It's been a while, but I either fired up the sat first and let it do its thing and ten started the receiver or fired up the receiver and then the sat. Basically, I didn't turn them both on at the same time. It's worth a shot.
- YC_1NomadSince it has been working it is time to:
Measure the voltage while it is searching
Disconnect all coax and reconnect
Call KVH - Thunder_MountaiExplorer IIIf the KVH came with your MH, it is time to move on. The older KVH domes are dead technology and not supported by KVH. I dumped mine for a Winegard Travler and couldn't be happier.
- SnomasExplorerI have been using my Direct TV D10 receiver and the KVH sat for last 10 years successfully. It just quit connecting in Jan. My older KVH Model LM (2002)will not work w/ the DTV receiver after Jan 1st 2014. Has anyone had the same problem and is there any fix?
- YC_1NomadLow voltage, start RV and restart the dish with it running. Trees blocking signal.
Not setup correctly for Direct.
Use 18 inch round single lnb for the setup menu.
