labor cost of Cummins ISL replacement

I'm still hoping someone can answer the OP's original question because I'm curious approximately how much an engine swap in a DP would cost.

I'm thinking that my original guesstimate was way off considering the weight, size, and all the accessories and electronics on these things. I would think that 40 hours would be more reasonable. Still a guess though.

Diesels are built to last a long time...but....abuse them and they will bite you!!!....gotta put oil in em to make em last.....just sayin.....Dennis

I am confused? What does Moparmaga2 have to do with the OP?

We wanted to know why the ISL failed.

Check your replacement engines serial number here to make sure it doesn't have a possible problem. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f123/isl-wrist-pin-defect-serial-number-range-180891.html

Unless you had a wrist pin fail and put a hole in the block, why not do an inframe overhaul. Granted if you have a Cummins dealer do it it will be $15+K.

Riley might have gotten one of those ISL Cummins engines with the bad wrist pins. They were coming apart there for a while. That is when Cummins added the little red light to warn you that the engine was about to blow up.

That is the only problem I could think of the ISL has had.
