leisure vans

anyone own a unity leisure van. we presently have a 5th wheel pulled with and F350 which my husband drives. His health is failing and I thought if I could drive aswell that we'd be able to continue Rving for awhile longer. And in the future I'd be able to rv singularily.

I don't own a Leisure travel van but some here do. Assuming the layout is good for you -you usually can't go wrong with LTV.

But-B's and small C's(Hi Davydd) are not going to have the space of a fiver(obviously)

I would check any manufactures B. see if you think you can stand the space. then look at LTV
  • Class C forum may give you the answers you are looking for. We have owned two Leisure Travel Vans built on the older Dodge chassis. All the new Vans are built on the Sprinter 1 ton dually chassis now. That is why they are classed as a"C". Their quality of work is excellent, and having known a few owners of the newer models, their drivability is excellent as well. We went from a 5th wheel to the Van in order to be more mobile, and in your case the move may be the answer for your situation. We have have not regreted the move to a "B", and I am sure you would get a lot of enjoyment out of a larger Class "B" or a sprinter size "C".
  • we have a 2007 LTV freedom serenity II just love it the last of the 5cyc diesels ,it just tickles me when I figure the mpg 20 is the norm. high quality units,
  • Hi Lucy,

Sorry to hear of the needed change due to health issues.

Staying in the straight "B" class is going to be easiest when traveling solo. But I would not rule out something just a tiny bit bigger to increase your comfort by a lot bigger. B+s do get huge and I don't suggest you go huge. But you can go inches bigger to get that true house feel where everything feels just like the big rigs, only closer together in a smaller package. There are so many tiny B+ brands out there, THIS ONE a fine example at 21'-2" long and 93" wide, offered with and without a slide out. The company does take in trades like your pickup and 5th wheel combo. They also pick up and deliver.

Just another option for you to ponder.
  • There is also the Pleasure-Way Pursuit and PW Prestige.

If one is willing to deal with rough edges, there is the Sunseeker 2250LE, which can be substantially less in price than the others mentioned... but you do get what you pay for. I am not saying it is bad, but the PW and LTV vehicles are definitely on a higher tier than the Sunseeker/Forester 2250LE... but you pay for that.
  • We will buy a unit this fall and the unity it at the top of the wish list. Is there any discounting off the MSRP?
  • I tried to send you a PM but you don't accept them. Feel free to send me one if you have any questions on the line up from Nexus RV( a lot more coach for a lot less money). Either way you should check them out. I'm just another very happy Nexus owner.

    :B
  • We, too, had a look at Leisure Travel Vans and were very impressed, BUT the position of the microwave way up near the ceiling above the refrigerator was a deal breaker: don't want to be hoisting steaming hot things up over one's head. And that is why we are still looking.
