  • I think the Winnebago "book" says to level first. Not all manufacturers call for the same procedure. Do it like the manufacturer book says.
  • campingman55.....Here is a secret that helps the older guys. Once you arrive at your campsite, park the coach and make all of your connections first, such as the water, power and sewer. This way you're not bending under the slides to make connections. It also gives you more power (shore power boost to your batteries) when moving the slides. DO the reverse when leaving. Saves on the back and knees.
  • My manual says the same. Level first, then run the slides out. Run the slides in before retracting the jacks.
  • On mine if I run out slide it's a bear to get to one of the stabilizers SO it's easy to remember to level first with stabilizers down then run out the slide. As previously stated tweak as necessary; usually on the side opposite the slide.
Conversely, bring in the slide and raise the stabilizers.
  • I also get set, then level, then run out the 4 slides, then check level. I do not have jacks, just air bag leveling, but I would think principle is the same.
  • On my 2004 south wind, the directions say to level first then slide. Also bring the slides in first before retracting the leveler jacks. Works for me and if you just think about it for a minute, the slides will deploy straight and without binding when the RV is level as opposed to tilting from front to back or side to side
  • Either way works fine... you won't do any damage to slides or jacks.

Congrats on your new RV, Have fun in it.
  • should be in the owner's manual but we level first, then run the slides out and then tweak the level if needed.
  • Each manufacturer is "different" so do NOT accept the words of wisdom from anyone except a Winnebago owner. The slide operations instructions for my Monaco product are not the way that your Winnebago works.
