Lifetime updates for Garmin GPS
I went to try to update my Garmin StreetPilot GPS unit and was told that my "Lifetime" nuMaps updates could no longer be used.
It appears that when Garmin makes a change to their software, the older GPS units have reached the end of their lifetime, according to Garmin. Updates are no longer provided, period.
As an alternative, they did offer a free exchange of my 7" screen StreetPilot for one of two different 5" screen GPS(57LM or 58LM) units that are no longer in production. These are low end Garmin products that are at the end of production.
Garmin also offered me a 20% discount off of their MSRP on any other GPS unit that they sell. A little checking on the 20% discount means that the reduced price is close to what the online discount houses sell the same GPS.
Oh well! At least they don't manage my HealthCare. :B
