Looking at 24’ Class C’s with diesels...

You probably will have to consider a small Class C on an E350/E450 or a Chevy 3500/4500 gas chassis. ;)

So for those that mentioned OCCC you were 100% correct. Terrible numbers. With a family of 4 and all their stuff, food, water etc I would think your over the CCC. This is not going to work.

I’m pretty much decided on the diesel. We have traveled at altitude quite a bit and foresee the same with this rig. I have found that gas engines just don’t cut it at elevation. It’s just not comfortable. I do appreciate your comments though.

Im glad you brought up Phoenix. It wasn’t on my radar but I’m checking them out now. Do they have dealers or are they direct from Phoenix only?

Phoenix does not have a dealer network.

Where is Milford? If you would like to see a Phoenix Cruiser, current owners around the country are pretty happy to show theirs to you. Join the Phoenix forum HERE and ask that question. Hang around on that forum to get a good idea about PC ownership experiences. Phoenix does display at RV shows around the country. It might be good to track if they will be at a show near you.

I guess the 4th would be you are planning on towing a large vehicle or heavy trailer and need the extra power.

Other than some additional power and maybe better resale, there really is no justification to buy a diesel these days with all of the emission controls that have ruined the fuel economy.

If you're getting a Sprinter-based or diesel Transit-based motorhome, there's no extra power to be had over the E series chassis, and I suspect in real-life use a little less power (though, since they tend to be smaller motorhomes as well, the overall performance evens out). If you get a super-C based on a heavier duty truck chassis, that's a different matter altogether.

What is undoubtedly true is that the Ford V10 needs to rev high, and makes a good bit of commotion in the process, to be in its power band, while a diesel will be operating at a lower RPM under load. Some people don't like the high revving; if you operate the V10 at a more sedate RPM, it will tend to be rather lackluster.
