- ParrotguyExplorerI am going to insulate the engine cover in my '05 Pace 36D/Workhorse 24 and I decided to use the materials noted by a letter to MotorHome mag in the Oct '06 issue (OK so I'm behind in my reading). I was shocked to find that Fleetwood put no sound insulation whatsoever on this cover. I was going to order some of the 1" American Mat product http://www.soundproofingamerica.com/america-mat.asp
when I thought, why don't I buy more of this stuff and put some in the generator enclosure. I was really disappointed when I heard how loud the Onan is. I thoght they would have figured out how to quiet the thing down by now. You can barely hear the generator in the diesel pushers.
Anybody have any thoughts on insulating the generator enclosure?
Anyone find a convenient source for the all weather foil tape?
Gary - runagroundExplorerRichard, Good to hear you got the horns to work.
PaulT, That is strange. I've been to Lodi truck twice, both time great service. The first trip was for the miss. The computer did not read the miss so the tech crawled under the rig confirmed the wires were bad then rechecked the computer and the miss then appeared on the computer so he would have something to "show" Workhorse (3 wires were bad 3-5-7). Plus they got the air flow kit approved. Also they discovered the air conditionion compressor was making a noise and got that replaced under Workhorse warranty. They even put us up at the shop for a couple nights while the work was done, nothing fancy but a nice gesture. Sorry you had a different experince. Have you tried to pull the wires? mine pulled apart and the heat guard is black inside instead of on orange, red. I wish I could be of more help and apologize if I steered you wrong with Lodi RV they did a good job for me.
Larry - PaulTExplorerRe Lodi Truck and RV shop Workhourse knowlege. I had my rig in for a oil change and asked them to investigate a engine miss problem with my 8.1 engine. They agreed there was a problem but said they could not identify the problem with their computers and suggested it must be a transmission problem. In other words, "not a Workhorse problem, go away".
I really wonder why they did not check my plug wires based on what I read in the forum and your note. This all occured at the end of Dec 06, shortly after your visit. Strange strange strange! - R2DillonExplorerI have disassembled my trumpet horns and gotten them working. Aside from the mud dauber nest in both, what I found is that the forward screws are tightened down to the point that the diaphram cannot vibrate. I also found on one that the contact switch (which disconnects the power to create vibration), was too far away from the shoulder of the diaphram. After correcting these issues, I have working trumpet horns.
- saberExplorerEvidently the King Dome 9704 upgrade is already on the market. A quick search of Google shows several sites that sell it. Also, the King Dome site shows the kit (which I know was installed in the 2006 and newer 37C) as available to work with the Directv Plus receiver. When I talked to King Dome last, I got the impression that there were no plans for a 5 LNB dome; rather, the system would switch among the satellites depending upon which programming you wanted. I haven't finished my conversion yet, but I yanked out the Zenith receiver/amp/DVD/VHS in our 2006 and replaced it with just a receiver/amp and a DVD player/recorder. My next step is to eliminate the controller box which in my opinion and experience has too much signal loss. I have found it easier to run/use every available connection direct to the tv when possible and do the switching with the tv remote system than the controller box. We have a repeater from the back bedroom to control the frt/rear switching through the amp. As I said several months ago, I don't belive any two of these coaches are wired the same after comparing mine to two sets of drawings from Fleetwood and three other same year 37Cs. Lastly, Fryguy is correct--the LG is the only unit I have found that fits correctly and neatly and has the picture quality. Kudos to him for leading way on this much need upgrade.
- ParrotguyExplorerMr. Bond, I'm not sure which of your lower compartments on the passerger side is the largest, but on the 36D the compartment behind the door is the largest. I wanted to save that compartment for large items like lawn chairs so I put my batteries in the next compartment back which is smaller. You might want to consider that if you add batteries (as inverters chew up the batteries really fast). Its still a fairly short run to the coach batteries under the stairs.
- Fyr_guyExplorerMr Bond,
As Parrotguy stated, you'll be able to use one leg of the 50 amp circuit thereby eliminating the use of one side of the outlets. I opted to have the kitchen side, front & rear entertainment minus the reefer and microwave as I didn't want them to drain my batteries and would rather use the Genny or LPG for them. My bride is still able to use her curling iron and make coffee in the mornings while using the inveter. Here are pics of the solar install
I also have added the Profill battery watering system that makes staying on top of the batteries a breeze - Fyr_guyExplorerParrotguy,
The only cables behind the tv is a single power cord and a single coax to rear of tv. I think you can see that in one of my pictures? As I had to go to the controller box to switch between components, I just eliminated that step and connected VHS coposite to LCD, DVD to component at LCD, Directv HD receiver to HDMI on LCD, I hope this sorta explains it. As HDMI has digital audio and video in one cable i didn't need to worry about a seperate audio connection for it but all the others require audio. I went with digital coax for my DVD player. All the audio connections are made at the new A/V Receiver (Onkyo). - ParrotguyExplorerMr. Bond,
I went through the inverter problem last year with camping world. Like everything else it gets complicated. I don't recall exactly but the problem is if you want to put in a single inverter which will light up all of the coaches 110 outlets with 110, you have to put in an inverter that is able to deal with the 30/50 amp issue. It involves the coach using one side of the 50 amp connection for the 30 amps feed, or something like that. I'm sure another poster can clarify this. I was putting in a solar panel and two extra batteries as we dry camp at the beach, and with the inverter I was up to $5,000 which seemed a lot at the time. I ended up putting in the solar panel, 2 batteries, and two 400 watt portable inverters in (Camping World had to add two 12 volt sockets) one for the back TV and one for the Satellite box. I gave up on the idea of using the microwave without the generator. Unfortunately in San Diego we don't have many dealers who do these installs. - ParrotguyExplorerPaul and/or Sanford,
What I was trying to determine, before I yank out the old set, is what connections are made to the back of the old set.
I assumed that Fleetwood fed the inputs from the satellite, roof antenna, park cable, DVD, and VCR all into the black junction box using coaxial cable, then I assumed that the connection from the junction box to the back of the TV would be a single coaxial cable.
If all the feeds are to the junction box, and then from the junction box to the TV, between what components are we able to substitute the upgraded digital wiring, since the junction box has only coax connections?
