We are looking to get a 42' M/H single axle to full time in. I was told that, that size M/H would get somewhere between 7-11 M.P.G. We just started looking at a tag axle. Can we expect better or...

Depending on how lead footed you are, expect between 7-8 mpg. A 45 ft will get from 6-7, and a 40 will average 8-9. These are typical mpgs, and your mileage may vary, but not by much. Additionally where you travel, such as mountainous or flat, and wind vs no wind will have huge effects on your mpg.
