Macerator vs Sewer Solution

Just thinking after reading the macerator post in this section. I too considered a macerator system, as we had a odd short connection to the usual slinky style hose that caused a sharp bend, and wouldn't allow for a complete sloped drain to the sewer as we can't fit the hose cradle under the MH. I was tired of having to raise the slinky hose to empty it as there was always a flat spot.

So we ended up getting the Sewer Solution as compared to a macerator. I did research the two. I just didnt want a hard wired system to the MH to dump and had worries about the blades plugging up. As many have indicated here, that's a possibility, along with other mechanical issues.

If your familiar with the Sewer Solution it just works off water pressure. Nothing electrical or moving parts to wear out. We used it last year for the season and it worked fine. It does drain slow , but will pump uphill and wash the hose clean and back flush if needed.

I had one time where it almost clogged from a wad of toilet paper. But after reversing the water back and forth it dislodged it. You can see what is going down the chute, it looks like it'll never work, but it has for us.

Are there others with success with the Sewer Solution or failures I haven't had yet? Of course this systems downfall is you need a water connection.

  • Howdy!

Been using Sewer Solution for 15 years 10 of that fulltiming and still going strong. Just bought a new o e last year because our new Toy Hauler has two 3" drains.

  • I just started using the sewer solution on our March trip, and I like it. I also think that Campers Friend does a geat job of breaking down waste and highly recommend it.
  • We used the Sewer Solution for years of fulltiming. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. Got tired of replacing torn sewer hoses & was looking for something simple to use. We had encountered a couple of situations where we were having to run 20 feet or more of sewer hose because of parking the RV at mobile home parks, for example (Wife was travel nursing so, depending on the assignment, there weren't always RV parks within driving distance of her hospital assignment so we would have to rent an empty lot at a mobile home park). Having to carry enough wood onboard, etc, to slope the sewer hose for that distance & just having to set it up and get the slope right for that distance got old. With the Sewer Solution I'd simply throw it on the ground, hook up both ends, and was done. The hose is so thick that I never ran into any problems with management wanting it off of the ground like a normal sewer hose. It was great!
  • I'm sure that the hose flushes clean easily due to the fact that it's smooth on the inside. I might look into this.

Question. Does the output work with a regular garden hose? Or do you have to use their special hose when dumping?

As long as it's the same size I.D ( 3/4" I believe) it'll work. The hose you buy is really easy to store and I have 2 sections just in case, only needed one so far. It disconnects from the sewer hookup real easily if you don't want the hose laying around. I disconnect it and coil under MH until next use.
