Majestic 19G and similar smallest Class C's

Does anyone have experience and review of the (ex-rentals) Majestic 19G, or any similar units? The Majestic is 7 foot something wide, has single rear tires, aero fiberglass cap, wet bath, dinette, and you sleep either in the bunk or on the dinette. To me it would make a lot more sense than a B van, at least in bang for the buck.

I'll bump this via PM to poster Photomike who has one.
  • I agree that you get a lot more value from a Class C than a B. In our case, Ed had been initially hoping to find something under 10' tall, so it would fit into a spare garage we own - but for the price difference and practicality of a "C" - I pointed out that we could afford to build whatever we buy its own tall garage and STILL be dollars ahead....LOL!

We are leaning towards something with a corner-queen bed and a cabover bed, simply so I don't have to make up and tear down beds on a daily basis. (The corner queens also offer massive storage space) The Thor 22E and 23U floorplans have risen to the top of the list. After reading that the 19G gets between 8 and 10 mpg, I realize that there's almost no fuel savings in going too small. Our previous 28' widebody got 8.5 mpg (or 8 when pulling a toad). We suspect that model was an unsold rental unit - it was pretty "basic" - but that meant that it was incredibly easy to dump the tanks, winterize, etc.

The 19G is one of the few C's I've seen that has an aero cap that you can sleep in! Wish more models had that!
  • I have the 23a like Mike above and chose it over the 19g for the same sleeping arrangement reasons he stated. The 19g's are very nice little rigs but are IMHO one person rigs or for younger folks. The best bang for your buck is with a 23a IMHO if you will be traveling with others. Just as easy to drive and a little more stable feeling with the dual wheels in back.f
  • I rented a 19G back in 2012 when I was thinking of buying a used rental from Cruise America.

Pros- Easy to drive, easy on gas, great for 1 person, would be ideal for use in Europe.

Cons- I didn't want to break the table down so I slept in the loft, which was tough for an older person to get in and out of. And the bathroom layout was a deal breaker for me. The toilet, sink and shower were all in one room, one small room. And in order to successfully sit on the throne, I had to keep the door open and have 1 leg in the hallway.

So I went and bought a 23A instead.
  • Thanks Mike. I am not surprised the utilities are smartly set up, because CA probably wants it that way. But if they can do that for the rental companies, why can't they do it for the rest of us? :)
  • My overall opinion is that this is a GREAT unit!!! Very well built and thought out, better than many RV's that I have looked at and I have looked at a lot. Low point drains, ease of access to shut offs, valves, etc is amazing. Build ideas are really smart! There are some things that could be improved upon for me but I am one of the few people that start camping when others are putting their RV's away so I don't see them changing for just me (Thermo pane windows, insulating the cab, in floor heat are just a few things that I would like :B :h )

ONLY true drawback is the bed, it is narrow. Yes you can sleep two but it is cozy. For me not a problem as it is usually just me or me and my son and he sleeps on the table. The new units are coming out with a different cab over design to eliminate any problems but I love the fiberglass shell of my unit!

Other issues.... Only one and really this will only apply to people like me that camp in the winter. THEY PUT THE THERMOSTAT ACROSS FROM THE FURNACE!!!!!!!! Furnace comes on, blows heat to the thermostat and the heater shuts off, I could move the thermostat (and I think I will for the furnace but leave the one there for the air conditioner) and the problem is gone.

If I was recommending a RV this would be at the top of my list! Add to that the price of a used rental and really you are all set.

Here are some of the updates that I have done.......
