Marine Corps Birthday

On this Veteran's day, 2013, a Happy 238th Birthday to the United
States Marine Corp members, past and present.

Cpl. E4 Ronald Blose-Semper Fi
  • Happy belated Birthday Marine! Tommy. (Cpl Watters USMC 1988-1992)
  • Actually, the Marine Corps birthday was on November 10, 2013, and marked the Marine Corps’ 238th birthday. It was the day before Veterans Day. But yes, Happy Birthday.
This prior service US Army NCO attended a US Marine Corp school at NAB Little Creek, Va way back in the mid 1970s. May of not been a Marine, but they sure made me feel at home and a part of the Corps!

This is funny! As a Marine I attended school at the Army's Aberdeen Proving Grounds. There were about 200 Marines on the base at any given time and the Army made us feel anything but welcome! Seems we were always emptying the barracks to settle a disagreement! Semper Fi Marines! And Happy Birthday!
  • Thanks Ron for the Happy #238th and your well wishes for Veterans Day to us U.S. Marines who have served. I had a free dinner at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Lake Havasu City, AZ. and was treated like a KING! That was a lot better then getting off the airplane in San Francisco and being spat upon! The Lake Havasu City, AZ. Marine Corps League had a honor guard there to salute all of us vets. I was also an E-4 (0311) in the 1st Marine Division ("The Fighting First") Hill #190 between Da Nang and Phu Bhi in 1969! Semper Fi "Do or Die"
  • Happy Birthday, Marines!! As General Mathis said "No better friend, no worse enemy, than a US Marine". Or, to quote President Reagan, "Some people live their whole lives wondering if they made a difference. United States Marines don't have that problem".

Well done Gentlemen. You have mine and my families eternal gratitude and respect.
  • "Semper Fi" and happy 238th to all my fellow Marines. Served Sept.8, 1969 thru Sept. 7, 1971. Real tough duty for an 18 year old and memories soon not forgotten. Peace to you all.

You were lucky. I was the only guy in the Army that was there. Talk about standing out like a sour thumb. But they treated me like one of their own. In fact, think I was the only one from the Army to go through a Marine Corps school at Little Creek from what I was told. Now I can not say the same about the EM club in Sukiran, Okinawa. Had lots of disagreements there, but it was all in good fun!
  • I hope you guys know that Marine is really an acronym?
    M- my
    A- ars
    R- rides
    I- in
    N- Navy
    E- equipment
Don't blame me! I was US ARMY!! :)
  • Tim do you know what sound s*** makes when it hits the fan? M-A-R-I-N-E !! :B

First in and last to leave, Semper Fi to all my fellow Marines!

Barely missed Nam, Nixon declared over second month of boot camp.
