Do you really need pure sine wave for your tv's or are you happy with your modified sine wave inverter. My 750 Tripp lite inverter took a dump and now need to replace it. BTW it was not pure sine wave but now people are telling me I need pure sine wave for the tv's ,what do you have and are you happy with it.

No, you do not need PSW for your TV. The TV is going to convert it back to DC anyway taking the sine wave out of the equation. A few pieces of hardware do work better with PSW (clocks keep accurate time and microwaves work as they should) but most pieces of hardware in your RV will work just as well with either unit.

My take on this is go ahead with a PURE SINE WAVE Inverter that will always work on anything you plug into it. You don't have to worry about it if you have a Pure Sine Wave Inverter. It is not only you to take the precautions but your family or friends who will see your 120VAC Receptacle being powered by the Modified Sine Wave Inverter and might destroy the appliance they plug into it. Any appliance that uses AC motors or transformers get very hot when powered by MSW Inverters. It used to be there was a very big price difference between the PSW and MSW inverters but that is not the case anymore...I use a 600WATT AIMS PURE SINE WAVE Inverter and it only cost $149 from AMAZON.This runs my home entertainment items, cell phone and computer chargers, fan motors, electric blanket controllers, etc... when camping off the power grid. Alot of folks will tell you their MSW setup works just fine for them but then again it might not work for you. Why chance it...Just my thoughts... Roy Ken

Are you saying that going from MSW to SW is not a change?
Replacement of a MSW inverter is another MSW. A change would be going from MSW to SW would it not? :@

If everything has been working fine for ten years on MSW, it would seem redundant to change.

Good to know you are not a Mac laptop user. The power supply on them sometimes blows--and the result is a blown laptop--not just the power supply.

This is not a case of change--it is a case of replacement of a failed inverter--and he may as well bite the bullet and buy a PSW.

I have been using MSW for over 11 years and the only issues I have had were with digital clocks.
I would say that if you have had no problems with MSW, why change?

As mentioned, microwaves are way happier with PSW

What else doesn't like MSW:
-Most electric blankets
-Some heating pads
-My Florescent service light
-Lots of 'universal' switching power supplies in laptops
- TV's have been reported to fry in many threads

YMMV, but buy the best and cry only once.

For some laptops it matters *BIG TIME* (for example mac laptops have been known to fry).

I'd spend the tiny be extra it costs for a psw unit.
