I am facing a problem with my noodle(s).I faced one of two choices. Either permanently wear a "brain bucket" to protect my head from continual "noggin busting" on my extended slides while accessing exterior compartments --or-- install the all famous "pool "noodles" around the slide edges to buffer the constant beating my head is taking when accessing exterior compartments.I went the $1 cheap noodle route as I was trying to avoid a fashion statement with my hard hat when visiting CG's.I cut them through the middle and slid them over the edges of the slides .All was well until yesterday when hit by our first significant rain since they were installed. The noodles immediately de-noodled from the slides and fell off.Is there a trick to keeping "noodles" in place where they belong- especially during rain? HELP!

Coming from construction - usually you will remember low member after bumping your head in it 20-30 times. Than in winter season you will forget it and start again.I have attic with low head clearance and roofing nails sticking down. I glued thick Styrofoam on it.

Have the continual impacts caused a learning disability?? We have little plastic "hands" that are glued to the corners of the slides. They are intended to go on bathroom mirror cabinet doors to protect the sharp corners, but they work well on the slides. Other than that, 1. wear a hat with some padding. it still hurts, but doesn't cut as deep. 2. get a bicycle helmet. 3. get someone else to get stuff from the compartments, because you hit your head every time you try. 4. review your noodle design. Maybe smaller diameter noodles. or some type of clip to hold them. I have seen table cloth clips made from plastic pipe, there might be a design tere tht would work. Rings cut from the pipe, with a slot on one side??

I would like to put some sort of corner guard on the slide corners as well. I have not done so yet as I am also worried I will forget and close slide and cause damage to the coach. I wonder if that has ever happened to anyone.

Since we seldom do as told, I have made up signs to put up in the all the place I have banged my head:

"BANG HEAD HERE!"

It works :) I don't ever bang my head on the sign

Before I got the plastic corners, I made corner protectors from noodles, mitered the corners, and glued them to give protection for the corners and about 18 inches on each side. They survived several bad storms without coming off, guess being attached on the bottom and sides both may have helped.

I need to get this resolved quick. leaving on a trip with the rig this week and my head is already hurting in anticipation of banging it just knowing I'm gonna knock my noggin if my noodles don't work

That velcro idea sounds pretty good. Might give it a shot on the slide bottom. I could use the extra velcro to fashion the "Noodle helmet" that's now in concept design phase.

Heck I might just do all these things just to make sure it really gives this old geezer's brains (what few are left) the protection they need! Hard hat,clamp on noodles, corner protectors,velcro, velcro circular (or conical)noodle hat now being designed, pipe insulation. I get all this together and I oughtta bounce off these slide edges pretty well!

Before I permanently glued the pipe insulation to my slides it was my young grandaughters' job to install them as soon as the slides were out. She was about 12. One day I came back in and gave her a big hug and kiss. She asked what that was for. I said for saving your grandpas head and back. By putting those things on asap you saved me a real boo boo. I had really banged the edge and came out with nothing more than a few bad words.

I have one and glued some elastic so the hat is not needed. When I go under the rv to do service it goes on. The scratches and dents are testament to my reduced bad language and use of band aids.

How about attaching pieces of velcro along the hidden side of the slide lip, and the opposite pieces in the noodle slot?

Go to Wal-mart and get the real pool noodles. Those dollar store versions are no good.

Seriously, I have a nice blue one I've been using for 4 years. I do not cover the whole bottom of the slide. I put an 8" piece of noodle on the corner right above the storage compartment.

This weekend I saw a camper with 2 noodles on a slide out. They started about halfway down the slide and he had them notched with 45 degree angles so they could turn the corner at the bottom. One on each end of the slide and the almost touched in the middle.
