- Blaster_ManExplorerThis has been posted before, but is good information.
Your towing capacity is normally the lowest of:
- GCWR minus weight of MH when ready to travel (loaded).
- Hitch capacity.
- MH tow capacity.
- Chassis tow capacity...some times the last two are different. - jerry8mmExplorerI have a 2002 Sea Breeze and tow a Prius witn no problem.

Unfortunately, some of the information you have been given here may not be accurate. You need to go to your coach's Federal Weight Certification Tag and look at the maximum gross towed weight information printed on the tag. Just because a coach has a 5000 lb rated hitch, does NOT mean it automatically has a 5000 maximum gross towed weight number. Have seen this many times. Don't guess, check the numbers.
Safe travels. - desobelmanExplorerYour towing capacity is 5,000 lbs. You are either in the F53 Ford, which all are 5K lbs, or the W20, W22 or W24 chassis which are also rated at 5,000 lbs.
Just make sure the hitch receiver was factory installed and says 5,000 lb capacity on it. - AZAmmochiefExplorerI have an 07 Sea Breeze on an F53 Ford Chassis. Mine is rated at 5000 lbs towing capacity. I tow a Jeep Liberty 3648 with my normal gear loaded.
- What chassis?
If you have owner's manual it should be in it. Many are rated at only 3500 and some at 5000.
You will also have to weigh your MH as if you were hitting the road then weigh and add the weight of your toad to get gross combination weight. The GCW should be on a sticker somewhere in the rig. Sometimes on wall by driver's door if equipped sometime in cabinet or closet.
If you still plan on towing the Avalanche from other posts, it may put you over both.
