I'm not a battery expert at all. As I mentioned Sam's doesn't carry the 31 model you mentioned but they do carry this Model 34M at my store. Do you know if this could work as a replacement for me? I don't undertand the difference between "31" and "34M".

The GR34M would be a smaller capacity replacement. I wouldn't recommend it for a coach battery application for that reason.
Try to stay with GR31 sized batteries or some other comparable combination to maintain or increase your original capacity. With coach batteries more is better.
